Mercer County Chairwoman Janice Mironov said she had not yet decided who she would back in the fight for the state’s Democratic chairmanship.

“Mercer County, at this point, has not weighed in. I have not weighed in. We have time before the actual decision has to be made, and we’ll take that time,” said Mironov, the longtime East Windsor Mayor. “At this point, I’m undecided.”

In December, Essex County Democratic chairman LeRoy Jones said he would run for Democratic State Chairman John Currie’s seat if there was support for him to do so.

Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes has endorsed Currie.

Roughly half of the state’s Democratic county leaders have backed him, though the race has taken something of a backseat to the year’s Assembly elections. Those elections are in November. The battle over control of the Democratic State Committee won’t take place until December.
