Assemblyman William Spearman won in the fifth legislative district special election to serve out the remaining year of his term.
Spearman defeated Republican Nicholas Kush by 16 points, 58% to 42%.
The Assemblyman received 38,341 votes to Kush’s 20,506.
Spearman was appointed to the Assembly following the resignation of former Assemblyman Arthur Barclay, who left the post in June after the New Jersey Globe reported he had been arrested on domestic violence charges earlier that month.
