Nicholas Kush is looking for a rematch with Assemblyman Bill Spearman.
Spearman defeated Kush by 16 points, 58% to 42%, in 2018, when the two were running for the remainder of former Assemblyman Arthur Barclay’s unexpired term.
The Assemblyman received 38,341. Kush, the father of political operative Steve Kush, got 20,506.
Barclay resigned on June 20, 2018, two days after the New Jersey Globe reported he was arrested on domestic violence charges on June 7.
The fifth legislative district is one of the most Democratic in the state.
The district has 46,404 more Democrat than Republicans and has not sent a Republican to the legislature since State Sen. Frank Italiano won his last term in 1971.
