The New Jersey Globe is projecting that State Sen. Nellie Pou (D-North Haledon), Assemblywoman Shavonda Sumter (D-Paterson), and Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly (D-Paterson) have won re-election to the 35th legislative district.
Pou defeated former Haledon mayor Kenneth Pengitore, while Sumter and Wimberly beat Republicans Iman Majagah and Ramzy Yamisha.
Pou, a former assemblywoman who succeeded now-Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-Paterson) in 1997, is now the chair of the Senate Commerce Committee. Sumter and Wimberly were both elected in 2011 after Pou ran for the Senate and Assemblywoman Elease Evans retired.
Final 35th district results:
Pou 68.6% // Pengitore 31.4%
Wimberly 34.6%, Sumter 34.5% // Yamisha 15.6%, Majagah 15.3%
