The Asbury Park Press have endorsed Republicans Serena DiMaso and Gerald Scharfenberger for State Assembly in the 13th district against Democrats Allison Friedman and Barbara Singer.

“For voters who wonder why they remain in New Jersey every time they open their new tax bill, DiMaso and Scharfenberger should be their clear choice on Election Day,” the editorial said.

DiMaso is seeking re-election to her second term in the Assembly.  Scharfenberger, a Monmouth County freeholder, is seeking the open seat of retiring Assemblywoman Amy Handlin.

“The contrasts between the Republicans and Democrats couldn’t be more stark. Asked to list their three top priorities during an Asbury Park Press editorial board meeting, the Republicans both identified providing property tax relief as number one,” the newspaper opined.  “Property taxes didn’t rank in the top three for either of the Democrats.”
