Assemblyman Matt Milam, the Assembly’s newest member, was appointed to the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and Military and Veterans Affairs Committee Wednesday.
“I’m incredibly excited to roll up my sleeves and delve deep into my committee assignments,” Milam said. “New Jersey’s first district acts as one of our state’s leaders in the agricultural industry, and I have spent years getting to understand and learn to solve some of the industry’s biggest problems. Additionally, my previous appointment to the Assembly Military and Veterans Affairs Committee makes this the perfect committee to utilize my expertise.”
Milam, who held a first district Assembly seat between 2008 and 2013, was previously vice chairman of the Military and Veterans Affairs committee.
He was appointed to fill State Sen. Bob Andrzejczak’s Assembly seat after the latter was appointed to Rep. Jeff Van Drew’s old seat.
“Matt’s experience and knowledge in the areas of agriculture and military and veterans affairs will be essential in tackling challenges and creating opportunities for New Jerseyans across our state,” Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin said. “I am proud to serve with him in the Assembly, am confident in Matt’s leadership and look forward to his contributions to the committees.”
