Add Amy DeGise’s name to the list of Democratic county chairs that like the idea of State Sen. Vin Gopal mounting a gubernatorial bid in 2025.

“He is one of the most hard-working men that I have ever met. Socially, personally, professionally — he has everything going for him, so if he hasn’t earned it yet, I think he will if that’s his end goal,” the Hudson County Democratic Chairwoman said.

On Wednesday, Democratic chairs from Union, Somerset and Essex Counties indicated they would support a Gopal for governor bid after Gov. Phil Murphy leaves office.

“I always love his bright, progressive, young ideas, but I think he works really well with veterans as well with building consensus and bringing people to the middle, which is something I’m a really strong supporter of for a good party, so I like that idea,” DeGise said. “2025 — At least we have good candidates being thrown around instead of people you’re rolling your eyes at.”
