Clean Water Action backs 12 Assembly Democrats

An environmental group endorsed 12 Democrats seeking terms in the legislature Wednesday, though few of those endorsements went to competitive Democrats running in competitive districts.

Clean Water Action backed Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker in the 16th legislative district and both of the 26th legislative district’s Democratic challengers, Laura Fortgang and Christine Clarke.

The group endorsed two other Democratic challengers, Eileen Della Volle and Erin Wheeler, who are running in the 10th legislative district.

It also backed incumbent Assembly members Dan Benson, Verlina Reynolds-Jackson, John McKeon, Mila Jasey, Britnee Timberlake, Clinton Calabrese and Valerie Vainieri Huttle.

Of the incumbents, only Zwicker’s district is considered competitive. Republicans are heavily favored in the 26th.

The group made its endorsements based on individual lawmakers’ records on environmental issues.
