State Sen. Bob Andrzejczak (D-Middle) said he and Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-Dennis) align closely on policy issues, even if there are minor differences between the stances the two hold.
“I think I would come in on the left to some issues, socially, and I think right on other issues,” Andrzejczak said. “We do align very closely.”
The state senator did not list any examples off hand, but recounted how he and Van Drew switched their stances to backing the expansion of medical marijuana and marijuana decriminalization after holding different stances on marijuana legalization.
Van Drew had a long career in the first legislative district before moving to Congress, largely because of his positions as a right-of-center Democrat.
Now that Andrzejczak holds that seat, he might have to more publicly emulate those stances if he wants to win the remainder of the Van Drew’s unexpired term.
Cumberland County Republican Chairman Mike Testa and former congressional candidate Sam Fiocchi are vying for the chance to challenge Andrzejczak in November.
