The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has added Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) to their Patriot Program, a move that could boost fundraising for the Democrat-turned-Republican in a GOP-leaning district.
“Congressman Van Drew continues to demonstrate why he’s been elected over and over again by South Jersey voters,” said NRCC chairman Tom Emmer. “While Democrats barrel towards socialism, Congressman Van Drew is in a prime position to win reelection and we look forward to ensuring he has the resources to do exactly that.”
Sixteen other GOP incumbents are on the Patriots Program roster.
The freshman congressman switched parties in December following his opposition to the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
Trump visited New Jersey’s 2nd district on January 28 in support of Van Drew.
Van Drew faces Robert Patterson, a former Trump administration official, in the Republican primary.
