Tom Dunn’s widow dies

Sally Essig Dunn, the wife of the late Elizabeth mayor Thomas Dunn, passed away on May 6.  She worked as an executive secretary in the mayor’s office from 1965 to 1992 and married Dunn following the death of his wife in 1989.  Tom Dunn was elected to the Elizabeth City Council in 1952, to the Union County Board of Freeholders in 1959, as mayor of Elizabeth in 1964, to the New Jersey State Senate in 1973, and to the State Assembly in 1991.  He spent 28 years as mayor before losing the 1992 Democratic primary to Christian Bollwage.  Tom Dunn died in 1998.
