Derek Armato, son of assemblyman, dies

Derek Armato, the son of Assemblyman John Armato (D-Buena Vista), died on Sunday.  He was 50.

Armato lived in South Carolina where he worked as a musician, singer and songwriter.

“The loss of a family member is always painful, but for a parent the loss of a child takes its own difficult toll,” said Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin.  “My thoughts are with John, his wife Marie and daughter Lauren at this difficult time. May Derek rest in peace.”

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
