Spadea gets backing of ex-Monmouth lawmaker

Former Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso (R-Holmdel) has endorsed Bill Spadea for the Republican nomination for governor in 2025.

“New Jersey is broken, and it will take a courageous leader to fix it,” DiMaso stated. “Bill is the only candidate with a plan to lower taxes, make our state safe again, and stop the inundation of illegal immigrants that has unfairly burdened the taxpayers of New Jersey. I enthusiastically endorse Bill and pledge my full support to help him save our great state.”

DiMaso, a former Monmouth County freeholder and Homdel mayor, served two terms in the Assembly before falling out of favor with the Monmouth County Republican organization and losing the GOP primary to Vicky Flynn (R-Holmdel) in 2021.

“I’m grateful to have Serena on Team Spadea,” said Spadea. “Her experience as an elected official at multiple levels of government will be an excellent resource for our campaign. With her help we will successfully turn around New Jersey and end the eight-year disaster that has been Phil Murphy’s administration.”

This has been Monmouth County Week in the governor’s race.  Spadea announced endorsements from Howell Mayor-elect John Leggio and Marlboro GOP Municipal Chairman, while Ciattarelli secured the backing of all five county commissioners and Middletown Mayor Tony Perry and other local party leaders.
