Gov. Phil Murphy urged New Jerseyans who were at a fundraiser at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster attended by President Donald Trump hours before he tested positive for COVID-19 to self-quarantine Friday morning.

“The contact-tracing process is underway,” the governor said in a joint statement with First Lady Tammy Murphy. “We urge everyone who attended yesterday’s event in Bedminster to take full precautions, including self-quarantining and getting tested.”

Trump tested positive for the virus early Friday morning, not long after Hope Hicks, one of the president’s closest advisors, returned her own positive test. Hicks is regularly in close contact with Trump and traveled with him aboard Air Force One more than once this week, including to a Minnesota Rally Wednesday.

First Lady Melania Trump also tested positive.

“Tammy and I send our best wishes to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a speedy and complete return to good health,” The Murphys said. “If there is one thing we have learned in New Jersey over these months, it’s that we pull together and support everyone fighting this virus.”
