House Speaker Nancy Pelosi seems to be transcending New Jersey’s Democratic Party wars.
When Pelosi found out that she and Gov. Phil Murphy in the same building late this afternoon – he was at a Democratic Governors Association event – she convinced him to add an impromptu speech to his schedule at a fundraiser she was hosting for the House Majority PAC.
Murphy and Pelosi will be together again on Saturday when the Speaker headlines a rally in Camden County for Rep. Donald Norcross (D-Camden). Both have endorsed Norcross, who has no primary opponent and a safe general election district.
Norcross is the brother of Democratic powerhouse George Norcross, who has a strong relationship with Pelosi — but not so much with Murphy.
Two days after the House voted to impeach President Donald Trump, George Norcross was spotted at breakfast with Pelosi in Washington. He has been a longtime fundraiser for Pelosi’s political action committees.
Pelosi accepted Murphy’s invitation to speak at the Democratic State Committee’s annual conference in Atlantic City last September. At the time, Atlantic City was represented by a Democratic congressman, Jeff Van Drew.
