Murphy terminates 17 Christie executive orders

Weather-related state of emergencies never ended by former governor

The best way to explain this is to put his in classic Seinfeld terms: Chris Christie knew how to issue executive orders, he just didn’t know how to end them.

Gov. Phil Murphy today terminated seventeen weather-related executive orders issued by Christie between 2010 and 2017.  

“The severity of the conditions necessitating the declaration of a State of Emergency has eased,” Murphy declared in terminated yesterday’s snow storm emergency today.

Christie’s executive orders were legally still in effect until Murphy took action today.
