Murphy-Christie race not in governor’s prayers

NJ governors limited to two consecutive terms

By Nikita Biryukov, October 14 2019 11:51 am

Gov. Phil Murphy isn’t praying for Chris Christie to run against him in 2021.

“It’s hard to know how to answer that question,” Murphy said. “I think, if it’s true, that that’s a sequel that only one person is looking for.”

The former governor has made no indication that he intends to seek a third term, though he would be able to do so if he wished.

In New Jersey, governors are barred from serving more than two consecutive terms, but they are not limited to any total amount of terms.
