Newark Mayor Ras Baraka is backing John Currie for re-election as the New Jersey Democratic State Chairman but praised LeRoy Jones as his county chairman and his friend.

“I support John Currie,” Baraka told the New Jersey Globe.  “I think Currie is doing a good job. It’s not necessary that we should fight over this.”

Baraka stressed that Jones has done an outstanding job as Essex County Democratic Chairman and that he has no plans to get involved in the state chairman election.   The mayor has no votes on the state committee.

“Our main priority should be to get rid of Trump,” Baraka said.

InsiderNJ.com reports that Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop is also supporting Currie.
