A recording of Mikie Sherrill praising Nancy Pelosi was released today by rival Jay Webber as part of a digital ad tying the Democratic House candidate to the national leader.

“I think she has been the most effective Speaker of the House that we have seen in decades. I applaud the legislation she has been able to pass,” Sherrill told a group of retirees in Pompton Plains last week.

Webber turned the recording into a new digital ad he released today.

Sherill, a former U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and federal prosecutor, had announced last May that she would not support Pelosi for another term in House leadership if she wins he race for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th district.

“Mikie Sherrill is not the moderate that her sleek campaign ads would have you believe she is. It’s clear that she is a Pelosi Democrat. Mikie may say she will vote for new leadership in Washington, but if she believes Pelosi is the ‘most effective Speaker of the House that we have seen in decades,’ we know she is simply going to vote for Pelosi 2.0, whatever her or his name is,” said Ronica Cleary, a spokesperson for the Webber campaign.  “This country has moved past the days of Nancy Pelosi rushing through disastrous, far-left legislation.  A Speaker by another name with the same Pelosi policies will do nothing to make New Jersey more affordable, or America stronger or more prosperous.  We need a bipartisan leader like Jay Webber to keep this country moving forward into the next decade, not back to 2006.”

  1. Gee, I wonder if Ronica Cleary will release the entire statement of Mikie Sherrill that day, as well as the question that prompted her response? Having heard Mikie’s stump speech many times, I recognize her words above as the typical lead in to why she will NOT be voting for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House.
