Republican congressional candidate Robert Patterson wants party switching Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) to return a $2,000 campaign contribution from Rep. Adam Schiff (D-California).
Patterson describes Schiff, who was named today as the lead impeachment manager, as the “impeachment kingpin.”
“No pro-Trump Republican would ever take money from liberals like Adam Schiff, Cory Booker, and Steny Hoyer,” said Patterson. “South Jersey Republicans deserve to know what kind of Republican Van Drew wants to be. We deserve an answer: will Switcheroo Van Drew return the liberal money bankrolling his campaign?”
Van Drew accepted $28,000 from House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and is leadership PAC, according to Open Secrets, a website that monitors campaign contributions. He also accepted $8,000 from a Booker-affiliated PAC and had endorsed Booker for president before switching parties and backing President Donald Trump.
Patterson, a former Trump administration official, became a candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd district when Van Drew was still a Democrat. He has refused to exit the race.
Two other Republicans who were in the race prior to Van Drew’s party switch, David Richter and Brian Fitzherbert, are also continuing their campaigns.
Van Drew’s aide did not immediately respond to an 11:32 AM text message seeking comment.

I totally agree!! He should also return my contribution which he got under false pretenses. I really thought Jeff was a man of principle and from time to time i disagreed with some of his stances but always appreciated the fact he was a believer. During the conversation in which he solicited my $2500.00 contribution he was very adamant about how he needed that to make sure the Republican party would never take over the majority. That was the selling point to me,hence the donation. He is also not telling the truth about being thrown out of the party. No one that i deal with cared about his vote on impeachment. It was his internal polling that showed in all likely hood he could not win the primary. I am surprised at this to say the least. Jeff if you are just a smidgen of the man i thought i knew you will return my money to me. Based on your loyalty to the current President i am not holding my breath thinking you will actually be a man with scruples!
