Welle hits Smith over Trump environmental policy

Josh Welle is hitting Rep. Chris Smith over President Donald Trump’s rollback of an Obama-era clean energy policy.

“The health and longevity of the people and our planet should be the first concern of our government,” Welle said. “Climate change threatens our health, our national security, our economy, and our future. Congressman Chris Smith refuses to acknowledge that rolling back environmental protection directly and adversely affect the people of Central Jersey he claims to represent.”

It’s not clear how effective the attack will be, as the environment did not break the top five issues for New Jersey voters in this year’s U.S. Senate election. The race in the fourth district will play out differently than it would were it statewide, but it’s likely that the issue won’t weigh too heavily on voters’ minds.
