Super PAC attacks Hugin over Kavanaugh

A super PAC that opposes Bob Hugin bashed the candidate on Friday for his support of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

“Bob Hugin’s position is a slap in the face to every woman who has ever been assaulted or harassed,” said Leadership Alliance executive director Julie Roginsky.  “What more evidence does Hugin need that Judge Kavanaugh lied under oath to the Senate Judiciary Committee?

After a long silence on the nominee, Hugin on Thursday said he would support Kavanaugh’s confirmation unless something in the recently-concluded FBI investigation into the sexual assault allegations leveled against Kavanaugh by two women revealed the candidate lied in his denials of those accusations or otherwise perjured himself.

Leadership Alliance New Jersey is run by Roginsky, a longtime Democratic strategist and TV news pundit, and lawyer Donald Scarinci, a close ally of U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez. The PAC has previously aired ads bashing Hugin over his time as CEO of Celgene, a favored attack vector of the Menendez campaign.

“Brett Kavanaugh is no more entitled to a seat on the Supreme Court than Bob Hugin is entitled to a seat in the United State Senate,” Roginsky said. “The more he speaks, the more he sounds like Trump, Kavanaugh and the men who enable them by sweeping lies and bad behavior under the rug in order to gain money and power.”
