State GOP launches site on Menendez ethics

The New Jersey Republican State Committee launched a website attacking U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez over his ethics troubles, following an attack vector favored by Bob Hugin that the candidate employed earlier in the day.

The site, BadBobMenendez.com highlight’s the relationship between Menendez and Dr. Salomon Melgen, who was convicted of stealing $73 million from Medicare earlier this year.

“It’s clear that, as of right now, Bob Menendez is still a leader of the Democrat Party in New Jersey. Candidates in competitive Congressional races are embracing him as the leader of their ticket and all of the corruption that comes with him,” state GOP chairman Doug Steinhardt said. “It’s not too late for his running mates to do the right thing and denounce Menendez and his corrupt practices. If he’s not good enough for Washington Democrats, he shouldn’t be good enough for anyone in New Jersey.”

The state’s Democratic congressional candidates have so far stayed squarely in Menendez’s corner, and the latter has often appeared with Democratic challengers at campaign events.
