The nation’s largest small business advocacy group has endorsed three New Jersey Republican congressmen for re-election, giving its backing to Reps. Tom Kean, Jr. (R-Westfield), Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis), and Chris Smith (R-Manchester).
The National Federation of Independent Business announced the endorsements Tuesday through NFIB FedPAC, its federal political action committee.
NFIB Political Director Louis Bertolotti said the three incumbents had supported the organization’s priorities during the current Congress.
“The candidates we endorsed have a strong record of supporting New Jersey small businesses,” Bertolotti said. “Throughout the 119th Congress, these representatives voted for policies that cut taxes and promote economic growth for Main Street. We look forward to continuing to work with them in Washington.”
But its pro-business agenda and emphasis on lower taxes and reduced regulation have often aligned the organization with Republican candidates. NFIB says its endorsement process prioritizes protecting incumbent lawmakers it considers proven allies of small businesses.
“New Jersey small business owners are known for their industrious nature, often having to navigate adverse state-level mandates,” said Greg Biryla, NFIB’s regional director.
“It is crucial that they have experienced leaders in Congress to ensure they can effectively operate and create jobs in their communities.”
