Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-Paterson) has led Congress’ call for Donald Trump to release his tax returns and now he’s angered by U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin’s bid to evade an order from the House Ways and Means Committee chairman to produce them.
“This is calculated stonewalling even at the cost of breaking the law,” Pascrell said. “What’s unprecedented is a president hiding his tax returns and using the IRS as a personal shield. We’re not backing down.”
Pascrell played a major role in convincing the committee chairman to use his legal authority to obtain the tax returns. The New Jersey Democrat is a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee.
