Republican congressional candidate Rosemary Becchi has won the endorsement of Maggie’s List, a federal PAC that helps fiscally conservative women candidates.
Becchi, a former U.S. Senate tax counsel who announced yesterday that she would challenge Senate Minority Leader Thomas Kean, Jr. (R-Westfield) in the 7th district GOP primary next year, is the New Jersey state chair of the political action committee.
“Rosemary Becchi is a proven leader who has brought so much to Maggie’s List and New Jersey,” said former Florida Secretary of State Sandra Mortham, the PAC chair. “Her service as our NJ state chair, coupled with her relentless leadership and desire to work on issues that directly impact citizens and businesses in the Garden State, makes her the right choice. We know that Rosemary will not only make an amazing representative, but will make a lasting, positive impact on New Jersey.”
Maggie’s List spent $202,498 on campaign contributions to Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate and House in 2018. The PAC raised $2,500 out of New Jersey: $1,500 from Becchi and $1,000 from Mendham Deputy Mayor Sarah Neibart.
The winner of the Republican primary will face freshman Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Rocky Hill). Malinowski unseated five-term Rep. Leonard Lance (R-Clinton Township) in 2018 by 16,400 votes.
