District switch clears field for Kean bid to oust Malinowski

Senate Minority Leader Thomas Kean, Jr. has endorsed Rosemary Becchi for Congress against Rep. Mikie Sherrill.

Kean’s endorsement comes two days after Becchi decided to drop her primary bid against him in the 7th district and run against Sherrill instead.

“Rosemary is a savvy, formidable candidate for Congress, the type of person I want to work with in the House of Representatives to make real changes for the people of New Jersey,” Kean said.  “She will defeat Mikie Sherrill in the 11th district and I will defeat Tom Malinowski in the 7th District to help our party take back the House and refocus Congress on the things that matter to New Jersey — keeping our economy strong, fixing our broken healthcare system and keeping our families secure.”

Becchi’s decision to switch districts clears the field for Kean in his bid to unseat Malinowski, a freshman Republican seeking re-election to a seat that elected only Republicans from 1956 to 2018.
