New Jersey Citizen Action PAC has endorsed Bob Menendez for U.S. Senate, and Democratic candidates in key races for the U.S. House of Representatives.
The group is baking Andy Kim against Rep. Tom MacArthur, Josh Welle against Rep. Chris Smith, Tom Malinowski against Rep. Leonard Lance, and Mikie Sherrill for the open seat of retiring Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen.
There was no endorsement made in the 2nd district, where State Sen. Jeff Van Drew faces former Atlantic County freeholder Seth Grossman in the race for retiring Rep. Frank LoBiondo’s seat.
New Jersey Citizen Action PAC also declined to endorse two incumbent Democratic congressmen, Albio Sires and Donald Payne, Jr. They are backing the other Democratic incumbents. All of them have safe seats.
“This is not a normal election. If Republicans retain control of Congress they will try again to take away our health care, they will continue to roll back workplace protections, they will ramp up their assault on women’s rights, and they will continue to cower and allow Donald Trump to run rampant over our democratic values. Health care, women’s rights, and workplace protections – that’s what is on the ballot on November 6,” says Phyllis Salowe-Kay, executive director of New Jersey Citizen Action. “The battle for control of Congress, for the soul of America, runs right through New Jersey. We are proud to endorse this strong slate of candidates who will fight for the people of New Jersey. For the next 35 days we will be running a robust political program, mobilizing tens of thousands of our members and members of the general public to the polls to flip the House and reelect Bob Menendez.”
