The New Jersey Right to Life PAC has endorsed Robert Patterson in his bit to unseat Democrat-turned-Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) in the Republican primary.
“Bob Patterson is the only pro-life candidate running in the 2nd congressional district, and we are happy to endorse him,” said Marie Tasy, executive director of New Jersey Right to Life PAC. “We are confident that Bob will always vote for pro-life legislation and against taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood’s abortion business.”
Patterson, a former Trump administration official, is the only Republican left in the primary against Van Drew. David Richter switched to the 3rd district against Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton), and Brian Fitzherbert dropped out.
Van Drew was a right-of-center Democrat before his party switch last December, but had maintained a solidly pro-choice position since his election to the legislature in 2001. He received a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood in 2016-17.
Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-Ventnor), who represented the 2nd district from 1995 until his retirement in 2018, had a 0% rating from Planned Parenthood during his final year in Congress.
