John McCann says that a vote by Passaic County Republicans to award him the organization line for Congress in the 5th district followed the usual process, and pushed back on rival Steve Lonegan’s claim that the vote was “Soviet style.”
“Passaic County has used the same process for selecting candidates for decades. Each town is represented by a duly elected leader who votes on behalf of their community—just like in Congress,” said McCann campaign spokesperson Lauren Zisa. “How ironic that Steve Lonegan, who tried to silence the 13.4 million Trump voters in the Republican Presidential Primary by trying to rig the Republican convention against Trump would make such a ridiculous statement. As President Trump said, he is a loser.”
Zisa is referring to comments made by Trump about Lonegan during the 2016 presidential campaign.
