U.S. Senate candidate Bob Hugin said senators should investigate sexual assault allegations leveled against U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by aChristine Blasey Ford, a professor at Palo Alto University in California.
“An allegation this serious in nature should be fully investigated,” Hugin said on Twitter. “I am hopeful that Senators in both parties will ensure that happens immediately.”
Hugin has thus far avoided clearly weighing in on Kavanaugh’s nomination, though he called Kavanaugh a highly-qualified individual shortly after President Donald Trump announced his nomination.
Ford alleges that Kavanaugh pinned her down and groped her at a party in the early 1980s.
Kavanaugh denied the allegations during confirmation hearings on Friday.
