The president of Brick’s Republican Club said the organization never endorsed David Richter as the House candidate claimed Tuesday.
“As President of the Brick Township Republican Club, I was stunned yesterday to read a press release from David Richter that our club had unanimously endorsed him for Congress, when no vote was ever taken and no endorsement was ever made,” Ruthanne Scaturro said. “I called the Richter campaign last night to voice my displeasure with this inaccurate release, and to reiterate that our club has not endorsed any candidate right now and, at this time, don’t plan to.”
The club voted to endorse former Burlington Freeholder Director Kate Gibbs in February and announced that decision via press release.
On Tuesday, Richter’s campaign sent out a release claiming that Brick’s Republican club voted unanimously to endorse Richter, who has the organizational line in Ocean County.
Among those on Scaturro’s email chain was Dana MacDonald, the 3rd vice president of the Brick Republican Party.
She hit reply all with her response.
“Fantastic!!!!!! Get ready for Fozmans they will probably be nasty…fuck them already….love it, Ruthann, great job,” MacDonald said.
Gibbs’ campaign didn’t let the opportunity to hit Richter go.
“Entitlement has been the hallmark of David Richter’s campaign from the start, so his presuming endorsements that he never received should surprise no one,” Gibbs campaign manager Angelo Lamberto said.
