The Stafford Conservative Republican Club voted on Monday night to endorse David Richter for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd district.

The endorsement means actual votes for Richter at the upcoming Ocean County Republican convention, which will award the organization line for the chance to take on freshman Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton).

As the official Republican club in the municipality, the Stafford Conservative Republican Club president casts five votes at the convention.

“I would like to thank all of my friends in Stafford for their support and for recognizing that I am the best Republican candidate to defeat radical liberal Andy Kim in November,” said Richter.  “We now have the momentum heading into the Ocean County Council vote next week and I am confident that my campaign’s growing grass-roots support will carry us to victory.”

The Ocean County Republican screening committee voted earlier this month to endorse former Burlington County freeholder director Kate Gibbs to take on Kim.

Barnegat mayor John Novak and former Hainesport mayor Tony Porto are also seeking the Republican congressional nomination.
