U.S. Senator Cory Booker will attend the New Jersey Democratic State Committee conference in Atlantic City next Friday, addressing Democrats in his home state as he seeks the Democratic presidential nomination.
Gov. Phil Murphy and Senator Bob Menendez had previously been announced as speakers. The state party also said today that Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin will be in attendance.
Senate President Steve Sweeney is not on the list of speakers.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is headlining the conference, which is scheduled for September 26 and 27.
“Just as it did in 2018, this conference will help unite our Democratic Party as we work to build on the unprecedented success we had last year and get even more Democrats elected up and down the ballot,” said Democratic State Chairman John Currie.
Booker has the backing of most of the state’s Democratic leadership, including Murphy, Menendez, Sweeney, Coughlin and 21 Democratic county chairs.
A Monmouth University Poll will be released on Thursday showing where Booker stands among New Jersey Democrats in his race for the president against Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and others.
