Eric Heitmann, a former New Jersey State Police major, has been named director of the state Division of Highway Traffic Safety.
Heitmann will earn a salary of $95,000-per-year while drawing a state police pension based on his $130,000 annual salary as a trooper. He will not be eligible to earn a second pension, the state attorney general’s office said.
“Eric is a nationally recognized and well-respected expert in the field of traffic safety and accident investigation,” said attorney general Gurbir Grewal. “His vast training and experience, coupled with his extensive first-hand knowledge of New Jersey roadways, make him an invaluable asset to the Division of Highway Traffic Safety.”
