Trump Bedminster golf club loses PGA tournament

The Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster lost a major championship golf tournament in 2022, the PGA of America announced late Sunday evening.

“The PGA of America Board of Directors voted tonight to exercise the right to terminate the agreement to play the 2022 PGA Championship at Trump Bedminster,” Jim Richterson, the PGA president, said in a tweet.

The decision, reportedly under consideration for some time, comes ten days before the club owner, Donald Trump, is due to leave the presidency.

New Jersey won’t necessarily lose the tournament, with Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City under consideration, Golfweek’s Eamon Lynch told the Associated Press.

The tournament might also wind up in Oklahoma.
