The head of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local #4 and #5 slammed Democrat-turned-Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) in is endorsement of Brigid Callahan Harrison for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd district.
“Having been betrayed by the incumbent, it is imperative that the Democratic party unite to win back a seat we legitimately won in the first place,” said Richard Tolson, Director of BAC Administrative District Council of NJ.
The Bricklayers are part of the South Jersey Building and Construction Trades Council, which endorsed Harrison earlier this month.
“Brigid Harrison is a Union member. She has pledged her support to the issues that effect our members and their families,” Tolson said. “From protecting prevailing wage laws, making sure OSHA is properly funded and staffed so work sites are safe, to addressing the exploitation of workers in the construction industry, sister Harrison will work to ensure that construction workers rights are protected and the dignity of workers is maintained.”
Harrison faces Atlantic County freeholder Ashley Bennett, former congressional staff Will Cunningham, West Cape May Commissioner John Francis III, former public school teacher Amy Kennedy and retired FBI agent Robert Turkavage for the Democratic nomination.
Van Drew, who switched parties in December, faces a primary challenge from former Trump administration official Robert Patterson.
What a shame that Mr. Tolson can’t apply the same logic and reason that supports Sister Harrison in CD2 to Sister Gibbs in CD3……….which face did he speak from?
