A former Murphy administration official who faced a criminal sexual misconduct allegation and resigned his state post last week has been invited to join an unofficial reunion of the campaign staffers in Princeton next week.
Invitations to the “mandatory fun” was e-mailed to many, but not all, Murphy for Governor campaign staffers less than three hours after POLITICO New Jersey reported the allegations against Al Alvarez, Murphy’s former director of Latino outreach and then the $140,000-a-year chief of staff at the New Jersey Schools Development Corporation.
The social function appears to have been organized by Robert Long, who managed human resources for the campaign and is now the deputy commissioner of Community Affairs.
“Hi Team. It’s been a while since many of us have seen each other. We’re going to try for another gathering of campaign staff, aka ‘mandatory fun,’ Thursday, October 18th at the Alchemist & Barrister, 28 Witherspoon St. Princeton. Start around 6 pm-ish. Hope to see you there!” the e-mail read.
