Former Democratic State Chairman John Wisniewski, who served as chairman of Bernie Sanders’ New Jersey campaign in 2016, isn’t ready to pick a candidate to take on Donald Trump next year.
“Haven’t made a decision yet,” Wisniewski said when asked if he would back Sanders again. “Still looking at the field. Right now, I think we’re up to 10, including Sen. [Cory] Booker. Let’s see how the field shakes out.”
Wisniewski served 22 years as an assemblyman from Middlesex County before leaving to run for governor in 2017.
Sanders stayed out of the New Jersey gubernatorial primary and his son, Levi, stumped for rival Phil Murphy.
While the 77-year-old Sanders is reportedly poised to enter the race, he has not yet announced his intentions.
Booker formally announced his campaign Friday.
