As he prepares to headline a major fundraising event for the Iowa Democratic Party next month, U.S. Senator Cory Booker today clarified published reports that he has already dispatched four political aides to Iowa in advance of the midterm elections.

“I think the accurate number is that I’ve done a lot to support the state party to hire people and that’s what we’re doing, not just in Iowa but across the country,” Booker told the New Jersey Globe this morning.”

Booker’s interest in the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination is no secret, and he’s spending considerable time on the road helping Democratic candidates across the country.  He was in Texas this weekend as the keynote speaker for the annual Johnson-Jordan Dinner.

“I’m helping every candidate everywhere.  Remember, the state houses and the state legislatures make decisions about drawing district lines,” Booker said, noting that he recently campaigned for Democratic gubernatorial candidates in Nevada and Georgia.

Booker says he’s raised over $5 million for Democratic candidates across New Jersey and across the country this cycle.

“This is all hands on deck.  Every office is important. If I go into a state, I’m going to do everything I can,” said Booker. “Even in states I haven’t visited,  we’ve been trying to raise resources.”

Booker could campaign in New Hampshire this fall, after Democrats pick their nominee against Republican Gov. Chris Sununu.  He declined to say if he has a favorite in tomorrow’s gubernatorial primary between former State Sen. Molly Kelly and former Portsmouth Mayor Steve Marchand.

He did say that he’s been having conversations with key Democrats nationally, including Iowa Democratic State Chairman Troy Price.

“I’m having conversations.  I’ve spoken to state party leaders all over the country,” said Booker, “I’m in touch with a lot of state party leaders.
