Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis says the city is close to building a ferry terminal that can allow commuters to move easily between Bayonne and Manhattan. Davis has been rolling out successes like the ferry and the new Costco project as he approaches the May 8 municipal election.
“This is a true game changer for Bayonne that will help us continue with the development of MOTBY and it will give our residents another option to commute into Manhattan,” Davis said.
Former Assemblyman Jason O’Donnell, who is challenging Davis, today smacked the mayor for spending nearly $17,000 on new office furniture – and compared it to criticism in Washington of U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson and his bid to buy a $31,000 dining room set for his office.
“What Ben Carson did in Washington is a terrible waste of taxpayer money but Jimmy Davis and his Council Team have been doing far worse to Bayonne taxpayers for four years. Taxpayer funded office furniture, forty abatements for their wealthy out of town developer friends paid for by city taxpayers and lawsuits settled with taxpayer money are just the tip of the iceberg,” said O’Donnell and his council slate. “Voters can’t do anything about Carson for another few years, but we can all get Bayonne on the right track May 8th.”
