Sherrill, Malinowski headline Morris Dem fundraiser

Reps. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) and Tom Malinowski (D-Rocky Hill) will headline the Morris County Democratic Committee’s fundraising gala on February 25, helping Democrats boost their campaign coffers for the 2019 elections.

The event stands in sharp contrast with high-overhead fundraisers by the Morris County Republicans in 2018.  Their winter gala featured Fox News personality Greg Gutfeld, who was paid $30,000 plus expenses for his appearance.  They held the dinner at the pricey Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster and lost money on the deal.

The Democratic dinner will be held at Minado, a modest Japanese restaurant in Morris Plains.  Sherrill and Malinowski are not charging for their appearance.

The election of the two Democratic House members — Sherrill succeeded Rodney Frelinghuysen and Malinowski unseated Leonard Lance — leaves Morris County without Republican representation in the U.S. House of Representatives for the first time since 1914.
