Sadowski wins renomination over county-backed challenger in Wayne

Ritter wins Dem primary in fifth ward

Only two of Wayne’s six council seats saw contested primaries Tuesday, with one on either side of the aisle.

In the Second Ward’s Republican Primary, Councilman Al Sadowski defeated challenger county-backed Louis Avolio 415-200.

He’ll face Dianne Douthat in the general.

In the fifth ward’s Democratic primary, Francine Ritter defeated James Freewick 160-135. She’ll face Lucy “Aileen” Rivera in the general.

In the first district, Democrat Arlene Sullivan will face Republican incumbent Richard Jasterzbski.

In the third, Stephen Palmino is challenging Republican Councilman Franco Mazzei.

Councilman Joseph Scuralli faces a challenge from Democrat Kenneth Tahan.

Democrat Shelley Orren-King is challenging Republican Councilman Jonathan Ettman.
