In a show of strength in the face of a primary challenge backed by Rep. Albio Sires, West New York Mayor Felix Roque and his slate of candidates collected 5,730 signatures for their nominating petitions.
“I am excited to continue the great work that we accomplished during my last eight years serving as Mayor,” Roque said. “I am proud to join with Commissioner Colacurcio and my great team of running mates that will help to move West New York forward.”
Roque and his allies are being challenged by a slate that includes three incumbent commissioners, Gabriel Rodriguez, Cosmo Cirillo and Margarita Guzman.
Roque and Cirillo ran as allies four years ago.
Roque isn’t without allies. Commissioner Sue Colacurcio will join him on his slate, giving the team two recognizable names.
“Working with Mayor Roque over the last four years has inspired me to continue the great progress we have made improving the quality of life in our community,” Colacurcio said. “Cleaning up the business district, improving our roads and parks while keeping taxes stable are just some of the great thinks we have accomplished together.”
