Latinas United for Political Empowerment PAC board member Felisha Reyes-Morton was appointed to the Camden City Council to represent the city’s fourth ward on Tuesday.
“We are delighted that Felisha has been appointed to serve as a Councilwoman for the City of Camden,” said Patricia Campos Medina, president of LUPEPAC. “Her leadership and commitment to Camden has been remarkable. She will bring new energy and vision to public service and will represent all her constituency well. She has been a leader of our board helping us expand LUPEPAC’s reach to South Jersey, and now that she is an elected official, we are committed to helping her win her election next November.”
Reyes-Morton has announced that she intends to run for the remainder of former Councilman Luis Lopez’s unexpired term. Lopez resigned in January to spend more time with his family.
Reyes-Morton has long been an activist within the city. In 2007, she and her husband founded the Community Building Corporation, which works with other community groups on community-building initiatives.
