Egg Harbor Township Committeeman Andrew Parker will seek the Republican nomination for Atlantic County Freeholder.

Parker wants to challenger first-term Democrat Ashley Bennett for the District 3 seat.

“I am excited and look forward to becoming part of the freeholder team. This team is making great progress in the economy of Atlantic County, and we must continue this path. I am ready and able to help the team succeed,” said Parker.  “I’m running for freeholder because we should all be represented by someone who is motivated, dedicated and empowered to move Atlantic County in the right direction.”

An Atlantic City public school teacher, Parker was elected to the township committee two years ago after more than a decade as a zoning board member.   He is a member of the New Jersey Education Association and the NAACP Mays Landing-Pleasantville Branch.

Bennett won in 2017 amidst a backlash stemming from misogynistic statements made by the GOP incumbent, John Carman.
