At a fundraiser headlined by Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin, State Sen. Vin Gopal (D-Long Branch) raised more than $250,000 tonight for his 2021 re-election campaign.
Gopal has raised about $880,000 since ousting three-term GOP incumbent Jennifer Beck (R-Red Bank) in 2017.

Democratic State Committee Vice Chair Peg Schaffer, the Somerset County Democratic chair, was also at the Gopal fundraiser, along with Ocean County Democratic Chairman Wyatt Earp and Monmouth County Democratic Chairman David Brown. Earp, Brown and Gopal are backing LeRoy Jones in his bid for state party chairman against a Schaffer’s running mate, incumbent John Currie.
