North Bergen voters will go to the polls on Tuesday to elect all five commissioners for a four-year term.
The mayor, Nicholas J. Sacco, has been on the Township Commission since 1985 and has been mayor since 1991. His five-candidate ticket faces a rematch from a slate headed by Larry Wainstein, a businessman who won 34% against Sacco in 2015.
Sacco won re-election by 32 points, carrying every district in North Bergen.

In 2011, Sacco was re-elected in North Bergen with 82% of the vote.

Sacco has also been a state senator since 1993, when he ousted an incumbent in the Democratic primary. In 2007, when he was running for a fifth term, he faced Sean Connors, a Jersey City police officer and future assemblyman, in the Democratic primary. North Bergen delivered almost 96% of the vote to Sacco.
