Leslye Moya has been named political director of the Morris County Democratic Committee.
She succeeds Ore Obiwumi, who extraordinary success in flipping local officials earned her a Best Political Operative designation by the New Jersey Globe in 2019. Obiwumi has held the post for two years.
Under Obiwumi, Morris County Democrats have won 26 local government eats, including six new Democratic mayors.
“Ore has done a wonderful job for our organization over the last several years as we have gained two members of Congress and greatly increased our number of mayors and local elected officials,” said Morris County Democratic Committee Chairman Chip Robinson. “We believe that Leslye has the temperament, intelligence, and character to follow in Ore’s footsteps.”
Moya was the campaign coordinator for Carolyn Blackman, who was elected mayor of Dover in 2019 against the longtime incumbent, James P. Dodd. The Jersey City native was an intern for Rep. Frank Pallone.
Ore is the best thing that ever happened to the Morris County Democratic Committee and I’m sure that her hand-picked successor will do just as well.
