Former Hudson County Freeholder Jeffrey Dublin defeated Melissa Alexander to win the Democratic nod for Hudson County register.

Dublin made his bid on the Hudson County Democratic line, while Alexander ran alone under the slogan “The people’s choice.”

The former freeholder’s campaign got a boost from some prominent Democrats. Gov. Phil Murphy on Saturday attended a Union City rally boosting candidates in column A, where Dublin’s name could be found on the ballot.

Union City Mayor Brian Stack, a prolific vote-getter, featured Dublin’s name prominently on his campaign literature.

Darlene Green batted aside a challenge from Patricia Waiters for a seat on Hudson County’s Democratic State Committee. Green ran with organizational support, while Waiters ran along on the “Change for Hudson County right now” slate.
